Antenna System Siting Protocol

Radio communications and antenna tower systems are a Federal jurisdiction in Canada falling under Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada. Even though they are a federal jurisdiction ISEDC has specified through their Radiocommunication and Broadcasting Antenna Systems Client Procedures Circular (cPc-2-0-03) that consultation with the local land use authority needs to occur. As a result the Southeast Regional Service Commission Board has adopted the Southeast Regional Service Commission Antenna System Siting Protocol to aid proponents in the process of siting antennas within the areas of the SERSC receiving land use services.

The primary objectives of this protocol is to establish a clear and efficient process for evaluation as well as to encourage co-location (minimizing new antenna sites within the region) and encourage designs that are compatible with surrounding land use.
